Shop at the best Bakery in BC and not just because it's my family's...

My parents own and run a fantastic restaurant near White Rock, British Columbia. The Roadhouse Grille has been a favourite since 1997 for those living in and visiting the beautiful Semiahmoo Peninsula.

In November 2008, the Roadhouse changed from its cafe style to a full size restaurant in a new location just next door. My dad is an architect/designer by trade and an artist at heart. Every square inch of the new location screams, "Dwayne Jacobson". His passion for retro, art-deco and all things eclectic came to life, on display, for all to see. Including a fan he made out of guitars in the front entrance!

For years people wondered if they could buy the baked goodies, including the bread that the Roadhouse serves. They make each and every bit of yumminess on-site, always have. Work began immediately to refit the vacated space to house their new bakery. Again, my Dad's talent is evidenced everywhere!

July 1, 2009 the doors opened to the Roadhouse Bake Shoppe and Cheese Market with a party like no other. There were old fashioned cars, lots of food and live Jazz music filled the entire plaza.

Then the economy took a nose dive and the BC government introduced the small business killer, the HST, and many people who once purchased local, excellent quality, handmade products stopped so they could save a buck.

People have complained that they can get things cheaper at a big box store and often ask if the bakery can price match. Price match?! That's like comparing apples to... toe jam! One of these things is not like the other. Price match unique, one of a kind, locally made, Canadian made, handmade items to cheap plastic thingamajigs made by thousands of children in a sweatshop somewhere across the globe. I may be exaggerating slightly but I hope you're hearing my point.

This Holiday Season... SHOP LOCAL!

Here's one idea that you shouldn't pass up on. How many parties are you going to this Holiday season? What kind of gifts are you bringing the host/hostess? Yes, you should always bring a gift! What about a beautiful basket of goodies??!!

The Roadhouse Bake Shoppe and Cheese Market can put together a custom-made gift basket, tailored to fit your budget. The also sell gluten-free baked goods...

There are only 19 days left until Christmas... that's lots of time to give back to your community and support local, family-run businesses. :)

Find the Roadhouse on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.

If you're in the lower mainland of BC, you can find the Roadhouse family of deliciousness at: 1781 King George Blvd, Surrey, BC V4A 4Z9
