I had the most bizarre dream. Imagine with me… I had a superpower… I was a Superhero, of sorts.
Dreams where I can fly seem to be my super power of choice. If I need to escape… I simply look up, leap, and fly away. I think a lot of that has to do with my nature… they say we are either fight or flight people and I have always been the later. I do not like conflict, at all!
But this dream was different in that I never left the ground.
I was in a dark pub-like restaurant, everything reminded me of the dark ages, when I came across a book. As I touched it, it seemed to come alive. A bright light came out of it. I suddenly felt different, I knew I was chosen for a task.
When the others came up and touched the book, if it glowed for them as well, they were part of the chosen warriors. But it didn’t glow for everyone. One person, who said she was chosen (but I knew in my heart she wasn’t) touched the book and nothing happened. More proof came later on in the dream that I was right to trust my gut. Another person was hiding in the shadows, I quickly recognized her ability and knew she’d be right for the task, but she was too shy to come forward on her own.
As soon as the book was activated, I could feel that those on the “dark side” were notified. They started coming towards us, we knew we had a battle on our hands.
When I first woke up, I thought this part was sooo strange… I’d grabbed a pair of rubber boots and put them on. I yelled to the others on my team to get their boots on for battle. We could only kick butt when we were in our boots! One argued with me for a while she didn’t want to, she didn’t need to… but eventually put her boots on. My boots were made of rubber which formed and clung to my feet as if they’d been poured over my legs. The best part… the part that made me laugh… they were plaid, like Burberry rain boots.
Very fashionable for a fight scene, don’t you think? They are very much me!
I spent time in prayer for an interpretation of the dream, I felt like God was saying, I have a good team surrounding me in time for the battle and I have the gift of discernment – it’s not still to come, it’s here IN my life now. I already posses what I need to win this fight.
The Scripture that came to me was Ephesians 6:15, “And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel.” In the New Living Translation it says it this way, “For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.”
Put on the Gospel of Peace, this word in the original Greek is εἰρήνη = eirēnē (pronounced ā-rā’-nā).
1) a state of national tranquility
a) exemption from the rage and havoc of war
2) peace between individuals, i.e. harmony, concord
3) security, safety, prosperity, felicity, (because peace and harmony make and keep things safe and prosperous)
4) of the Messiah’s peace
a) the way that leads to peace (salvation)
5) of Christianity, the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and content with its earthly lot, of whatsoever sort that is
6) the blessed state of devout and upright men after death
Dreams can tell us so much, I need to pay more attention to mine. This one was different in another way… I didn’t fly away. I didn’t try to escape. I faced the battle head on! There’s a lot to be said about that… you can’t win if you flee.
This dream is an old one… it’s been coming back to my remembrance a lot over the past week… So I dusted it off and brought it out from where it’s been hiding… in my draft bin.
